Join the Science Conference at High School Movement

Long-term Projects

The following are example long-term projects. Notice that the projects are from a variety of ages. While the movement targets high school, youngsters of all ages are encouraged to participate.

Paleontology Long-term - 3rd Grade

Theo presents his dinosaur long-term project from third grade. It was originally presented at the the 2019 Freedom Area High School Science Conference. Here he compares carnivores and herbivores through modeling of arm and leg size.

Industrial Arts Long-term

Industrial Arts Long-term Projects can easily be incorporated into the Science Conference at High School. Brandon Majors demonstrates how the cut influences the smoothness of metal.

Computer Science Long-term

This Artificial Intelligence Study by Logan Richards is considered very high level for a high school student.

Logan Richards presents his Artificial Intelligence long-term project that he presented at the 2019 Freedom Area High School Science Conference. This is considered to be a high-level computer science long-term.

Biology Long-term

The following Blood Glucose Study is by Robin Kaufman, who was a senior at Freedom Area High School during this filming. Here she is presenting to the Physics Club in an effort to show underclassman what a completed study looks like.

Non-Traditional Science Students - Group Long-Term

Travis Kreps, Logan Kemerer, and Zane Smith present a long-term project completed by 10 non-traditional students. This group turned from having anti-school views to being leaders in their class. Here they will discuss how they designed a three speed forward and thee speed reversing vehicle that shifts without mechanical gears. It also has three levels of regenerative braking.

Elementary Science Long-term

Theo Ging-Wargo is in second grade and he completed his Easter Egg Drop Study on how parachutes slow an Easter egg when dropped from a second story window. Theo has presented every year at the Science Conference since he was in kindergarten.

Jalynn Falk presents an Anatomy and Physiology long-term.

Jaylnn Falk presents her long-term project from the 2019 Freedom Area Science Conference. All types of long-term projects fit into the Science Conference at High School movement!

ecology Long-term

The following Giant PINE-CONE Study was created by Meadow Ging-Wargo when she was in second grade. She said that this was her favorite long-term.
